Special Collections, which includes the University Archives, is now housed on the library's upper floor. During renovation, same-day access to physical materials is typically unavailable. However, researchers wishing to engage with Special Collections' materials are encouraged to first contact Brian Gribben, Coordinator of Government Documents & Special Collections at b_gribben@fhsu.edu or call 785-628-5511 to schedule a research consultation. During the consultation, the coordinator and researcher will identify materials germane to the latter's needs and schedule a follow-up appointment so that the desired materials can be pulled and brought to Custer Hall 108.
Research Tips
-
VIEW Digital Collections to access select materials from the Special Collections that have been made digitally available. Select "Archives Online" or Special Collections" from the list of Featured Research.
-
BROWSE Special Collections and University Archives. This platform contains finding aids for select collections in both repositories, providing overviews of the collections' content from box to folder level.
-
SEARCH the FHSU Library Catalog. Begin by searching keywords for your research topic. From the results list, use the right sidebar to filter results under the “Location” heading to show only the locations with the prefix “Special Collections.”
