Try searching the database Academic Search Premier. To find articles on the risks of injury, you could search for children AND (athlete or sports) AND injury. For this type of paper, you probably want articles that are written for the everyday person rather than scientific articles written for health professionals. To find these, limit your results to Magazines by checking the box on the left side of the results screen. You can also limit to full-text articles--so your results will include only those that have a link to the complete article. To find articles about the benefits, just change your search a bit--replace "injury" with (benefits or advantages).
If you do want to find research studies, uncheck Magazines and select Academic Journals.
